Facebook page called meet the Masters at Liberty Lake School Central Valley School District one of our four goals is providing high-quality teaching and learning by engaging our students in mentally appropriate activities that are student-centered providing the integration of all content areas such as science social studies and Technology are Hands-On experiences which are based around our state standards and providing small group instruction the needs of each individual student we also believe in having a strong connection with our parents as you're part of our team and which really want what is best for your child in addition to touring with parents we also partner with our local priest collaborate with one another so our students are ready for kindergarten if you stay ready for kindergarten I think that kindergarten has a lot to do with but it is so much more things that you can kindergartner with the left and green and coordination and not Levi stop further learning that can kind of figure out how to put those pieces together good that's a very important skill for kindergarten also to be able to tell a story natural ability to talk and speak is so important for his development that would be great. Brain on Fire. what to do with a stumble or things don't work they have to figure out I'm going to go back and dumb different skills Denny's kindergarten is there so much happens in kindergarten I feel like they just can't wait what time is the mass number letters and sight words and can you remember it is so fun to see them what is a socialist Community Network on burning to work together and we work in reading underwriting start building a little bit tougher and Sophie okay working through math skills make a picture of those little hungry caterpillar different bacon seems like a balancing act and in kindergarten there is so much that they have to balance when I come as sprinkle Andrew skills like we want to make sure that the skills for the kids so they can have Istation this so important where do stress this one is my most favorite is that by the end they figure out something engineers and mathematicians authors and illustrators growth mindset do you know but it's okay pictures of learning we love to celebrate mistakes. kindergartener Denver play cell in a garden looks a lot different then today then when you and I were in here and as you can see there are a lot of academic along with social emotional fall so in order to help we structure of a very purposeful day we start out everyday with something called Soft landing and this is just a time it's an easy transition transition from home to school each day and it looks like guided spray or free choice play and the teacher decides what will be best to ease their anxiety or stress and it we help them get ready for a very full day of learning then we move on to writing and writing looks different depending on the day the week of the month until Garden oftentimes it starts out with them drawing and then it turns into our students writing letters and the sounds that they hear and their sight words will be written in there and then it ends with them riding on stories which are so fun 3 and then you move on to Shared reading and this is the time where we get to build literacy skills as a class together then snapped and snack is very important nutrition important for their learning and we need we always make sure that we meet their essential needs first before we get on to the other learning specials and specials library music or computer lab depending on the day it doesn't we go to each classroom will have their own schedule but this is the chance for your children to have other teachers their specialist and they get to build relationships and learn new things with them as well then they come back to the classroom for a literacy block and this is this can be small group learning and Vista Chino are the teacher to meet with a small group of children so that we can meet your child exactly where they're at in their literacy skills and while we're meeting with those small groups the other children in the are practicing their independent work skills and this could look different they might be doing some weird work at practice with their sight words or reading to themselves they could be working on their own riding they also possibly be on some sort of Technology like an iPod to practice their phonemic awareness and then we move on to lunch and we take them down to the cafe and we make sure that each student hot lunch with Cole Ventures get to where they need to go and we stay in there for a little bit but this is where we need your help we need your help helping them to be independent doing things like opening up their packages on their own and making sure that they can feed themselves and eat their lunch while also talking with their friends all at the same time so we would love to practice having your children packages opening up containers inside their lunch box were there to support but we also want to teach them to be independent then they'll go to recess and running and playing and raining outside in fresh air that is so important for their bodies and brains and it is a important part for even our academic peace and their academic learning then after recess they will come back in find the classroom and often times we either do a read-aloud or possibly independent reading on their own and this just is another transition it helps, their bodies and Minds so that they can transition back into environment that we move on to a Mac block and this could look different depending on the day but it could be a whole group lesson to be a small group lesson lots of games are involved in here and you end up seeing a lot of Hands-On learning so lots of manipulative locks counters toys that help kids learn math and so we keep that his work right then we move on to more reading instruction like comprehension and vocabulary give me a really fun because your kids will come home with some real fancy words move on to block work could be either a science lesson or social Daddy's last name in or an art project and social studies we do focus on social emotional learning but that content is often in her woven into all of the other he says and then at the end of the day for packet and dismissal be closed out the day and we trying to regroup and talk about how the day went and then your children will get their own backpacks but their own lunch boxes if they into their backpacks and zip up their own hopes and they do this all independently and then we has teachers get them to their dismissal lines and the end of the day routine is very purposeful as well so that we can make sure it's safe and secure and that your child gets exactly where they need to be at the end of the day then here is walk is now what is watching invested wisely in our youngest Learners and initiative called walk it helps provide a solid foundation for their academic careers this initiative was developed to ensure a smooth transition from preschool go to the kindergarten setting & Beyond really the initiative values the critical ages of development in birth to eight years of age specifically for you and us teachers it allows us to connect become a team of coaches cheerleaders and fellow teammate with your kindergarteners and that brings me to the next slide three components in the walk heads initiative first and probably the most important in my opinion is that family connection our teachers work with you the families and your children are our future gardeners at the very start of the Year during the first week of school the kindergarten students and their families sit down with the teacher inside the classroom the chance to get to know each other and learn how to support each other your child gets to experience before the first day of school and this is with you as parents and without any other classmates just a really great transition in time but it's also chance to want a relationship with you and your child in order to be a team these meetings are called trans kindergarten transition meeting and personally I really love them because I get to know the kids and families and I know their names I know their story before the first day of school which is so fun the second part of the Walk kids initiative is something all the whole whole child assessment so during the first couple months of school we the teachers go a closer look at your child's academic and social emotional Readiness now we look at both of these things cuz they are very much in her woven and they are dependent on each other go through this we get a whole picture of where begin so that we can see how to help them and how to keep them progressing towards the goals the data that we collect we collect this data through observation of authentic learning activities and help this individual their academic and social most nobody and then the last part is the Early Learning collaboration we get together and share information from your child Early Learning professional so that we can learn how to make the transition smooth we also get information from the professional so that we can connect and teach your children right away on day one basically these three pieces are are what watches and is the bridge between the home and daycare and preschool world to the kindergarten in elementary school world so I kind of spoke about this before but the transition meetings and assessment during our war celebration on September 8th there will be a sign up for our walk his transition meeting the meetings will take about an hour and the first half will be just a conversation to get to know you and your child and the second part will be about gathering information and about the social emotional activities physical stuff such as balancing and using drawing tools about the language development of your child Arc Austin teachers we really look forward to this meeting and learning more about your child and how to best support and needs and I really wished it could do this in the garden gets so as mrs. pal explained we have some important events to look forward to in the fall kindergarten families we truly are planning to prepare to reopen in the fall and dissipator regular school opening so here's some important dates for your calendar first on September 8th we will welcome all our families back to Liberty Creek Elementary at our annual welcome celebration from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. celebration is a chance for students and families to visit
